Application Information and Process

Eligibility Criteria

  • Must have a verifiable job or other regular income like social security
  • Must have an annual household income less than $44,000 (preference given to applicants w/ lower incomes)
  • Must have a bank account with verifiable regular income deposit
  • Must demonstrate the significance of the expense and how it makes a difference for the applicant
  • Must be at least 18 years old, citizen or permanent resident and have a valid ID
  • Must be a resident of the Minnesota’s Seven-County Metro area: Anoka, Carver, Dakota, Hennepin, Ramsey, Scott, and Washington counties
  • Must sincerely agree to the terms of pay off the loan and make regular automated payments ($25 to $50 per paycheck)
  • Must be available for an in-person interview if required

What qualifies?

  • Car repair when a car is necessary to be able to work
  • Major necessary home appliance repair, e.g. furnace, water heater
  • Professional licensing fees, uniforms etc
  • Exceptional one-time rent, gas, or electric payment (at the verge of termination of service)
  • Prescription glasses not covered by insurance

What does not qualify?

  • Student tuition loans
  • Car loans
  • Non-essential items (as determined by the Nousury assessment team)
  • Food, clothes, internet, or phone bills
  • This is outside of the scope of NoUsury, which many other charitable organizations can help
  • A need so great that even the maximum amount of loan would not make a difference
  • Expenses for which other charitable organizations can help

How does it work?

  • Step 1: Click on “Start Application Process” button below and fill out the Initial Loan Application Form .
  • Step 2: NoUsury assessment team will review your application and send you the Final Loan Application form
  • Step 3: You will meet with the Nousury assessment team if necessary
  • Step 4: Once approved, Nousury will directly send the payment to the provider (e.g. car repair shop)
  • Step 5: You will pay back the loan as agreed upon during the application process
